On August 15th, 2007, it was reported that the casino facilities in Detroit earned a lot in July compared with the same period last year, according to the monthly statements released by the Michigan Gaming Control Board.
The profits from MotorCity, MGM Grand Detroit Casino and Greektown casino improved 4.94%, 2.19% and 1.12%, according to the report of Richard Kalm, the executive director of the Michigan Gaming Control Board. Motor City’s casino big improvement can be traced to the new facilities that opened to the public this summer.
It is also the first of the three casino facilities to show completed parts of its establishment and the grand opening attracted a lot of visitors. Aside from that, the Gaming Board also accepted the $20,000 fine from Greektown Casino facility for not correctly counting the coins from their slot machines during gaming board checks in 2004 and 2005.
Deputy Director of Enforcement of the Gaming Board John Page that all slots feature a hopper. On annual basis, the hopper does an inventory of what can be found on the gambling floor. Greektown casino did not carefully follow the steps for the inventory back then but the issue is pointless according to Page because Greektown’s slots do not need coins anymore . He added that this will not be a problem anymore.
Richard Kalm said that there are three to four violations that Greektown has made and the gaming board wants to finish the first charge first. Kalm added that they will deal with the succeeding charges. He would not divulge any details until the issue is discuss.
