On March 7, 2007, MGM Grand Detroit announced that they have launched a website where interested applicants can apply for the new jobs that will be needed at their casino hotel/entertainment facility, scheduled to open in the 4th quarter of 2007.
To ensure that the 1,000 new employees needed by MGM Grand Detroit for their grand launching later this year, they decided to hire prospective employees this year. Prospective employees can send their resumes to the online site, mgm1job.com. Aside from submitting their resumes, applicants will be able to search for a variety of jobs and even schedule interviews on the spot.
According to Debbie Thomas, the Vice President of Human Resources at MGM Grand Detroit, management has already put up billboards in Detroit that contain the announcement for the new job opportunities in the gambling casino as part of their employment effort to recruit the best and most talented employees.
She further stated that they are currently on the look-out for prospective employees who have an interesting and dynamic personality. In addition, their prospective employees should have pride in their jobs, be flexible to work at the casino at anytime, any day of the week and also have a great sense of customer service.
Thomas added that MGM Grand Detroit will be hiring employees that will have fixed salaries and those who will be working for jobs with hourly salaries. They will also have open positions in administration, environmental services, finance, food and beverage, hotel operations, human resources, marketing, security, table games, valet and even in their wardrobe department.
She also said that the MGM Grand Detroit will launch a new staffing center in late March that will be located in downtown Detroit where the job interviews and the training for the prospective jobs will be held.
