Pennsylvania officials want to make it clear to casino facilities that underage gambling and drinking will not go unpunished. With casino table games being rolled out next month at casino facilities in the state, the Gaming Control Board showed again on June 10th, 2010 that they are serious in enforcing state gaming rules.
Sands Resort Casino Bethlehem has received a $48,000 dollars fine, due to permitting underage gaming and drinking at the casino facility. Sands has been faithfully following the rules and regulations of the state since its opening, with this becoming the facility’s first fine.
Two separate incidents were reported to the Pennsylvania Gaming Board. The first one was only a minor incident, with underage players only being inside the casino facility in just a few minutes. The second incident involved a 20 year-old who spent six hours playing inside the casino in two different times.
Gaming Analyst Steve Schwartz said that the once the casino table games are up and running in Pennsylvania casino facilities, there are going to be a lot of underage players who will try to play at the casino tables. He said that is why it is important for the state Gaming Control Board to show casinos over the past few months that underage gambling will be punished.
The state of Pennsylvania is aiming to become the top gambling destination in the northeast. Having already surpassed Atlantic City in slot machine revenue in December 2009, the installation of casino table games will give state casinos the additional power to properly compete with casinos in New Jersey. Presque Isle Downs, Meadows Racetrack Casino and the Rivers Casino will start offering casino table games on July 8th, 2010.
