Meadows Racing Track Starts Construction of Permanent Casino and Grandstand

On August 8th, 2007, the Meadows Racing Track and casino Facility is planning to construct a 200 room hotel facility, a luxury health spa and new grandstand and VIP boxes for patrons who want to watch horse races at the harness racing track.

The officials from Cannery Casino Resorts, which is the owner of the Meadows Racing Track and Casino facility, said that they will immediately start the development project worth $150 million dollars.

They added that the new casino and grandstand will open in 2009. The Meadows Harness Racing Track opened a temporary facility with 1,700 slot machines in June 2007. That temporary casino facility will be used for other activities like a bowling alley when the Meadows harness track permanently opens.

The Meadows permanent casino will be four times bigger compared to the temporary facility which will also include a restaurant, snack bar, gift shops and a sports shop. The demolition of the current grandstand to make room for the construction of the new casino and grandstand facility will begin as soon as possible.

Horse racing will be put on temporary hold because of the construction although simulcast betting will still be held at the racing track and OTB parlors of the Meadows Racing Track.
