Hunt and Smoot Construction Chosen By PITG Gaming for Casino

On September 5th, 2007, Detroit businessman Don Barden, the winner of the single slots license of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania has selected a contractor for the casino.

Barden’s PITG Gaming LLC announced that they have chosen a joint collaboration between Hunt Construction Group from Scottsdale, Arizona and Smoot Construction from Columbus, Ohio as the contractors for the $450 million Majestic Star Casino of PITG Gaming LLC.

PITG signed an agreement with Hunt and Smoot for the building of the 435,000 square foot casino with a 3,800 parking garage as well as road improvements around the casino facility and the surrounding community around the casino. The financial terms of the deal were not announced.

The Hunt Construction Organization has experience in casino building in Indiana and California. Smoot Construction is a minority owned contractor that has a yearly profit of more than $145 million in construction projects like sports facilities, convention and educational establishments.

Sam Marshall, the PITG Gaming vice president of design and construction said that both Hunt and Smoot have a lot of experience and they believe that both construction companies can finish the project on time and within the budget.
