The Debut of Planet Hollywood's Las Vegas Casino

On November 18th, 2007, with a lot of celebrities and a two day, $5 million worth party to attract attention, London entrepreneur Robert Earl relaunched the Las Vegas Strip mega resort. 56 year-old Earl, who conceptualize the Planet Hollywood restaurant chain but said that over expansion bankrupted the project, has lead the $1 billion modification of the Aladdin Hotel-Casino that he and his partners bought for $800 million.

They changed it from its Arabian design and redesigned into a casino. A collaboration with the Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide, the resort has been launching the brand new restaurants and bars since the April. Earl said that they are hoping a good result with this relaunched.

Earl, who is hoping to construct Planet Hollywood casino resorts in Atlantic City, New Jersey and Macau, China, said that it is always a good feeling to get back in track. Some of the celebrities who have attended the launched are Sylvester Stallone, Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger and others. But other observers said that Earl’s plan to create a new casino destination seems to be lacking.

The owner of RateVegas.Com and long time Las Vegas observer, Hunter Hillegas said that it seems very fake. He has some serious doubts about the future of the Planet Hollywood casino. Earl, who bought a 23% share in the Everton Football Club last year, understand the doubts of the critics, given the previous history. He was seen as an industry leader in the early 1990’s when he let go of the Hard Rock Cafe chain to debut Planet Hollywood.
